Terms of Service
Last updated: October 8, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and 15507120 Canada Inc., operating as ClearPenny ("ClearPenny", "we"), an Ontario corporation, for using clearpenny.app. By creating an account or buying ClearPenny, you agree to them.
1. Your account
You need an account with a valid email address. Keep your login safe; you're responsible for what happens under it. You must be at least 13, and if you're under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent's or guardian's permission.
2. Free trial, plans and lifetime access
New accounts get ClearPenny Base free for 7 days, with no card needed. When the trial ends, your budget stays available to view and download, and choosing a plan lets you keep making changes. One free trial per person.
ClearPenny Base and Pro are one-time purchases. "Lifetime" means for as long as we operate ClearPenny as a product, not your lifetime or ours. If we ever shut ClearPenny down, we'll give at least 90 days' notice and a way to export your data. Features may change over time; we won't remove a core feature of a plan you bought without offering a reasonable alternative or a partial refund.
Buying the ClearPenny spreadsheet on Etsy includes ClearPenny Base, unlocked with your order number. Each order unlocks one account.
3. AI credits
Some AI features use credits. Plans include some credits; more can be bought. Credits have no cash value, can't be transferred or exchanged, and are non-refundable except where the law requires. They don't expire while ClearPenny operates. If a purchase is refunded, the credits that came with it are removed (credits already used stay used).
4. Fair use
The AI features included with a plan (like the budget setup helper, category suggestions and Pro's monthly summary) and imports are for normal personal and household use. We may set reasonable limits to protect the service and other users, and will tell you if we do.
5. Not financial advice
ClearPenny helps you organize your own money. Nothing in the app, including AI answers, is financial, investment, tax or legal advice. AI can make mistakes: check important numbers.
6. Your content
Your budget data is yours. You give us permission to store and process it only to provide the service (see the Privacy Policy). Shared budgets are visible to the people you invite.
7. Acceptable use
No unlawful use, no attempts to break or overload the service, no access to other people's data, no reselling access, and no uploading files designed to harm the service.
8. Purchases and refunds
Because every account can try ClearPenny free for 7 days first, purchases are final, except as described in our Refund Policy.
9. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend accounts that break these terms, with notice where possible.
10. Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that apply to you.
11. Changes
We may update these terms; we'll give notice of material changes. Continuing to use ClearPenny means you accept them.
12. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of Ontario have jurisdiction, except where your local consumer law lets you go to court where you live.
